We have seen a definite increase in people using Paypal as a preferred medium of payment across our customer web sites – though it is quite expensive.
The first break point for their fees is £1500 and we noticed that one of our web sites was comfortably exceeding this each month. As they are quite expensive compared with normal third party payment providers we thought that our rate should have gone down.
We have subsequently found out that you need to apply for a lower rate! So top tip, calculate how much you are receiving each month and if you are over any of the break points apply straight away as it isn’t automatic – which we were quite surprised at.
An enjoyable project working for Carington Estates in Bledlow. We were asked earlier in Jan 2009 to update their existing web site. They provided a few ideas of how they would like the web site to look and be navigated and this is the final result.
The site is built in CSS and also uses blogger.com to update the latest news page / noticeboard page.
Chalfont Web Design is a shareholder in a company called Cater For You Ltd and has been running it for around five years after being invited to do so by an existing client. We were originally asked to design a web site to retail plastic glasses and build it up to a catering supplies / food packaging distribution business.
The shared ownership of the business meant that all SEO techniques were applied to the business to help it progress as a pure play internet business. Since it was started, Chalfont Web Design has been involved in all elements of the business from warehousing, logistics, accounts, stock management and range selection as well as the original request for web design, SEO, product photography and general business marketing.
Over the five years, Cater For You has become immensly successful – culminating in its recent move to a new 2,000sq ft warehouse and increasing the amount of stock held.
In practical terms, this means that for any small or medium sized business approaching Chalfont Web Design for a web site or some web advice, we are not just a typical web design company – we genuinely do understand the issues facing your business as we have been through many of them.
CSE Distributors in Bourne End is one of CWD’s largest customers. We have been working with them since 2001 and have seen their business grow substantially through the web enquiries that have been generated both here and from export markets.
CSE Cables was established as a separate brand / branch a few years ago to capitalise on the growth of this business and a web site established. Last week we added a new section to their dedicated web site – Telecom Coax Cables.
A customer we have worked with for around 8 years is John Mackenzie. We put this simple web site up as per customer specification earlier this week.
John Mackenzie has worked on a number of very high profile legal cases over the years and his web site is well worth a visit.
To reflect this ongoing growth and to give the web site a platform to continue growing in the next 12-18 months, we have given it a complete makeover using CSS and updating all elements of the design.
The new web site also includes their new logos as used across their builders merchants, plumbers merchants, decorators merchants, electrical wholesaler and bathroom showroom branches.
Chalfont Web Design specialises in providing web design services for small businesses and consultancy for medium sized companies – both of whom wish to make an impact on the web and generate new business.
An important building block of a web site is knowing where you are at at any given point in time. Google Analytics provides a great, free way of measuring where your traffic is coming from, what keywords have been typed in to find your site and much much more besides.
Most of our clients now have this simple piece of tracking code installed on their site. If you don’t know how many people are visting your site – or if you have a counter – this is a must have addition.
