HD Services, Open Loop Ground Source Heat for underfloor heating, water boreholes, sewage treatment and more.
We were delighted to be asked by an existing client of almost 10 years, HD Services Ltd, to work on an overhaul of their on-line presence.

They are a particularly interesting customer as they are at the cutting edge of new green technologies based around ground source heat pumps. We originally created a dedicated web site for this, but they had since evolved and wanted their HD services web site which features their sewage systems and water borehole solutions to be merged with the ground source heating content.
Merging two lots of content could have been troublesome, but working closely with Rebecca at HD, we worked a good layout for the new web site, leaving just the tricky extraction of data from both the existing sites to deal with. This data import and merge was done by exporting both lots of content out via XML and importing back into the new draft web site then merging duplicate content into one page.
We used DesktopServer to import the existing web sites locally and creating the new one before uploading the new draft site up on a staging web site at our preferred shared hosting provider 20i. We stuck with using WordPress as our CMS as the client was already familiar with how to use it and it is class leading for this type of application. As usual, we installed the Genesis Framework on top of WordPress, but selected one of their pre-prepared themes to use instead of the normal basic layout.
Working closely with Rebecca to finish everything off, we launched the site in early 2020 and now look forward to further collaboration to help with their ongoing marketing and meeting their business goals.
For those who are interested, we also used the following third party software, tools etc:
- Cloudflare for SSL, improved site loading and security
- Shutterstock to compliment their in house photography
- ScreamingFrog to scan for various errors
- 301 re-directs in the .htaccess on the existing site and old web site
- Updated their Google Analytics and Google Search Console
- Various plug ins for security, caching, lazy load and next gen image delivery
